Meet Richard Rozier

Richard Rozier is a successful businessman and effective community leader. He was appointed Ellis County Tax Assessor-Collector to fill an unexpired term by the Commissioners Court in March 2021.  He ran for office and was elected in 2022 to a two-year term which began in January of 2023. 

COMMUNITY LEADER

Richard Rozier previously served Ellis County as President of Ellis County Emergency Services District #6 and on the Board of Ellis/Johnson Counties Meals on Wheels. He also served as Mayor of DeSoto from 1995- 2001 and as a member of the city council prior to his election as mayor.  Under his leadership, DeSoto was named one of the “Best Managed Cities in Texas” and one of the “Top 20 Cities for Business Relocations” by Texas Business Magazine.

Richard is Chairman of the Board of The Heights Ellis County Resources, former Chair of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, former Chairman of the Best Southwest Partnership and served on the Health and Human Service Committee of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.  He has also served on the boards of the North Texas Commission, the North Central Texas Council of Governments, and the Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition. 

Richard played a key role in making the University of North Texas System Center at Dallas a reality.

FAMILY

Richard and his wife Karen have been married for 43 years and have one son, Daniel.  Daniel and his wife Kelly live in Ellis County with their three children.
