TX Vehicle Inspection Law Changes!
Starting January 1, 2025, NO MORE annual safety inspections for non-commercial vehicles! But wait, there’s a catch:
Emissions Tests STILL Required in These Counties for gasoline powered vehicles:
• Houston Area: Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery
• Dallas-Fort Worth: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant
• Austin: Travis, Williamson
• El Paso: El Paso
Bexar County joins the emissions list in 2026!
Here’s what you need to know:
• Inspection Fee: You’ll still pay a $7.50 “Inspection Program Replacement Fee” at registration.
• Vehicle Safety: Keep your car in check! No mandatory safety inspection doesn’t mean neglect.
